Day Four – The Love Dare: One Wife’s Journey

The scripture verse that touched me in particular today is –

Then the LORD God said, "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." Genesis 2:18

My honey appreciated the cold packs I bought him. It gave me an opportunity to tell him that it’s part of “The Love Dare”. And my friend at church graciously accepted my apology and gave me a big hug. What a wonderful gift God gave me through this experience!

Lord, please help me to see myself as my husband’s helper. Give me the wisdom and the desire to be a suitable helper to him.

Love is thoughtful…
I didn’t sit down to read this devotion before my husband went to work. So when I did finally sit down after he left, I just figured that I would fail to complete today’s dare to ask him how he’s doing and see if there’s anything I can do for him. But God is so full of surprises! My honey stopped by the house to eat dinner with us (me and our girls), so I was able to talk with him and make him food. Thank you, Lord.

This is now...

How precious to me are your thoughts, O God! How vast is the sum of them! If I would count them, they are more than the sand. I awake, and I am still with you. Psalm 139:17-18

Thoughtfulness is precious. We have many thoughts throughout the day. What do you tend to think of? The Bible teaches us to take every thought captive. Therefore, we are responsible for our thoughts.

We can cleanse our thought life by constantly washing our minds in the Word and spending time in prayer. Take a few minutes now to pray for those you love.

Father, I give the care of my husband, children, extended family and friends to You today. I ask that You meet them and their needs and exceed their expectations. I also ask for Your infinite grace and mercy for that homeless man I saw on the way to work this morning. You know his name. I pray he quickly comes to know yours. In Christ. Amen.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
