My Identity in Christ #11 - I am completely forgiven

Now that my Bible Study group has finished Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God study, I need to keep moving in the right direction.  Continuing this series of blog posts taken from the list Priscilla included in her 6th week of Bible study regarding our identity and inheritance in Christ.  I pray these reflections will open your eyes to how much God loves you.  Read them as if you wrote them.  Meditate on them.  God bless you.

I am completely forgiven

Think about this.  What does it mean to be completely forgiven?  Not just for the big stuff, but for the little stuff.  Not just for the things you’d done before asking Jesus into your heart, but for every sin you will ever commit.  1 John 1:9 says if we confess our sins, Jesus will forgive our sins and purify us from ALL unrighteousness (emphasis mine).  Ephesians 1:7 tells us that the redemption that Jesus provides by His shed blood on the cross is what secures that forgiveness out of the treasure trove of God’s grace.  Colossians 1:13-14 also equates redemption with the forgiveness of sins.  Psalm 103:12 tells us that God removes our sin as far as the east is from the west.

Christians have received a full pardon from God.  It’s as if we were standing before the firing squad – or strapped into the electric chair – or secured to the lethal injection gurney and we heard that telephone ring.  Our Heavenly Father is way more powerful than any Governor.  And Our LORD’s stay of execution is eternal!  I pray you’ve received your “stay of execution”.  If you haven’t received it, why not?  It’s a free gift!  If you’d like to, pray with me.  There’s a prayer for you to follow on the left pane of this blog or you can say your own words.  Then let me know what you’ve done or contact a trusted Christian friend who can connect you with a Bible-teaching church.  Don’t wait another minute.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...
