Queen of the Waves by Janice Thompson

Two families on opposite sides of the globe are shaken by the rise and fall of the Titanic, "queen of the ocean."

When pampered Jacqueline Abington makes secret plans to elope with the family gardener, she concocts a scheme for another woman to take her place on the much-anticipated maiden voyage of the Titanic. From a poor corner of London, Tessa Bowen has been granted the opportunity of a lifetime-a ticket to sail to America aboard a famed vessel. But there's a catch: she must assume another woman's identity. For the first time in her life, Tessa stays in expensive quarters, dresses in luxurious gowns, and dines with prestigious people. Then a wealthy young American man takes an interest in her, and Tessa must struggle to keep up the ruse even as she finds herself falling for him. When tragedy strikes, the game is up, and Tessa's life is forever changed.

"I absolutely loved this novel. Janice Thompson captures the true heart of the voyage and makes us feel as if we are a part of the Titanic. She also makes sure God's love shines through this tragedy and shows that He has better things in store!"

-Cathy Peeling, great-niece of Edward Smith, captain of the Titanic

"Janice Thompson has concocted a tale I couldn't put down. Queen of the Waves is a deft weaving of deceit confronted by truth, shame confounded by love, and guilt swallowed in forgiveness. Beautifully written, this is a very different take on Titanic's many stories-one you won't want to miss, one you won't forget."

-Christy-Award winning author Cathy Gohlke

Here is my review of this wonderful historical romance:

First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Janice Thompson and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Queen of the Waves" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.

Janice Thompson’s “Queen of the Waves” is not your usual Janice Thompson fare.  In this intriguing twist of events, Tessa Bowen, a poor English pig farmer’s daughter, finds herself impersonating the wealthy Jacqueline Abingdon as she embarks on the journey of a lifetime.  Meanwhile, Jacquie has plans of her own:  to run away with her family’s gardener!  This novel is full of plot twists, romance and drama.  Knowing the history of Titanic actually makes the heart pump harder and the pages turn faster as the story approaches its dramatic conclusion.

These talented authors have painstakingly researched these subjects to portray the most accurate stories possible.  I even did some research myself while reading the novels to verify some of their facts.  I highly recommend these two amazing books.  Each is a wonderful way to spend a weekend in front of the fire sipping cider now that the fall season is upon us.  These emotional reads have the potential to take the reader to new heights in their own relationship with God as they imagine the Lord’s planning and provision in the lives of those who really lived these adventures and translate that loving care to their own lives.
