Today's Daily Devotional


“Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.” Hebrews 13:5-6

06/05/09 Can you contemplate the meaning of the word “never”? Not ever. Cannot happen. Will not happen. Won’t accidentally happen. Not now. Not tomorrow. Not the next day. Or the next week. Not next month. Not next year. Not before you see Jesus face-to-face. Not after. NEVER. That’s how soon the Lord will get tired of hearing you ask forgiveness. NEVER. That’s when Jesus will stop getting excited when you tell Him that you love Him. NEVER. That’s when God will give up on trying to mold you into the likeness of His Son. NEVER. That’s when the Lord will cease offering you comfort when you are in pain. NEVER. That’s when Jesus will regret laying down His life to save you from your sins. NEVER.

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God.
