The Book of Revelation by Chuck Missler – Hour 17 – Revelation 12

Chapter 12 is another part of the break between the sixth and seventh trumpets.  This chapter is a graphic history of Israel, represented by the woman in the chapter.  That makes the man-child Jesus Christ.  And the red dragon has been trying to destroy Him since the beginning of time.  Chuck goes through a powerful list of strategies that Satan has used in an attempt to eliminate Messiah.

My favorite part of the teaching in this session included Dr. Missler’s thoughts about a ticking counter in heaven that advances each time someone makes a decision for Christ.  Satan doesn’t know what number on the counter will represent the fullness of the time of the Gentiles to signal our Heavenly Father to send Christ back to gather His people, so each time the counter advances, Satan flinches.  Chuck says Satan’s been in shock treatment for 1900 years!  I love that!

Chuck also made our group laugh when he said that no one should wait to make a decision for Christ and that someone listening to him right now could be holding us all back by not making that decision.  This also led one of our small group members to admit that he didn’t think anyone could be 100% positive that they were saved.  I am praying that he receives that absolute assurance.  I am also praying that those who already belong to Christ won’t take advantage of that assurance, but will strive to do God’s will and be in alignment with Him regarding all things.

Only seven weeks left!  I can’t believe how quickly this time has passed.  Thankfully, I am building quite a list of topics for personal study as I progress through Revelation.

Homework for next time:  Read chapter 13.  Read Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 28, Isaiah 10:24f, Micah 5:5f, Zechariah 11:17.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
