When Wallflowers Dance by Angela Thomas – Week 2

Welcome to Week Two of Angela Thomas’ “When Wallflowers Dance:  Becoming a Woman of Righteous Confidence”.

This week’s video, “Rejecting the Wallflower Life” parked us in Ephesians 2:10.  Angela challenged me by saying, “I want to be the woman God dreamed of when He dreamed of me.”  I really do want to be His masterpiece.  I think that can only happen if His will is done in our lives, so I’ve been praying for that almost every day.  Angela shared four things we need to do to reject the wallflower life and begin living for the Lord in righteous confidence:  we must choose God, we must choose to stop the chaos, we must commit to the community of believers and we must choose to restore order to our physical house and physical body.

This week’s homework, “So That Your Soul Can Catch Up” had me praying beautiful Scripture each day and gave me the desire to not only crave God but to see significant and measurable growth in my spiritual life.  I got specific about what I want that spiritual growth to look like and intentional about what I need to do to accomplish those goals.  I still try to do too much under my own power rather than letting God.  How about you?  Do you have a grasp on how to do less and allow God to do more through you?  Please comment on this post if you do.

Angela said, “You will pace yourself according to those you run beside.”  Who are you running beside spiritually?  Do you need to make some prayerful changes in this area?

This week’s “Girlfriend Nudges” included memorizing Psalm 46 and memorizing the books of the Old Testament in order.  I’m still working on Psalm 46, but as soon as I saw the challenge to memorize the Old Testament books, I pulled out some paper and wrote them down.  I got all of the books written, I just had the order messed up for a few of them.  Something new to practice.  There was a song on Christian radio several years back in which the lyrics were the books of the Bible.  If anyone remembers the name of the band that sang it, would you please let me know?  Thanks.

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
