Swinging on a Star by Janice Thompson

There's a fine line between ambitious and crazy.

Bella's just not sure where it is.

Bella Rossi's life is nearing perfection. Not only does she have the perfect guy, but she's also running a successful wedding-planning business and is about to plan its most ambitious wedding yet--a Renaissance-themed fairy tale come true, complete with period costumes and foods, horse-drawn carriages, and even a castle. There's only one hitch. The best man just happens to be Hollywood's hottest and most eligible bachelor, and he's showing an interest in Bella. Oh, and did we mention he's staying at her house to avoid the paparazzi?

With all the pressure surrounding this wedding, Bella's not sure she's going to make it through. Add her starstruck sister and her feuding aunt and uncle, and you've got a recipe for disaster--and a lot of laughs.

Here is my review of this sophomore offering in the Weddings By Bella Series:

First of all, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Janice Thompson and her publisher for sending me a copy of "Swinging On A Star" to review for them. I have always been grateful for this generosity, and I am trying to improve at being consistent in taking the time to thank these wonderfully giving individuals in a public forum. I really appreciate your time, effort and expense in making a reviewer copy available to me.

"Swinging On A Star" picks up where the first offering in the Weddings By Bella Series left off. Janice Thompson paints a beautiful, loud and rowdy picture of an Italian family living in Galveston, Texas with great authenticity and humor. The cast of characters from "Fools Rush In" are back as Bella prepares her second major wedding extravaganza. This time, it's a medieval themed affair and the best man, make that "first knight", is a super-famous Hollywood hunk that Bella must hide from the paparazzi until the big day. Toss in Rosa's anticipated debut on the Food Network, Sophia's crush on the movie star and the movie star's crush on Bella, and you've got a recipe for complete chaos.

I really enjoyed the development of the main characters, Bella's relationship with D.J., Bubba's debut at the opera, and the engaging moments over dinner at Bella's home. I also loved the addition of the unconventional Hollywood entrance into this wild and wacky world of the Rossi family. Bella's guidance of Brock (aka Vinny - aka Hollywood hunk) in spiritual matters was a lovely touch as well. But I will say that I enjoyed the first book more. It's not that I didn't enjoy this one, but let's just say that this second offering wasn't quite as spicy as the first. Still, it was delicioso!

Thank you so much for your sweet review. I think you'll find the third book to be a lot of fun. The Italian relatives are coming to Galveston for Rosa and Laz's wedding. And, as for those Splendora sisters, you'll NEVER believe who's falling in love with who! (Or would it be whom?) Anyway, romance is in the air in that third book - and it all happens as Bella is TRYING to plan her own wedding to D.J. (Stress "trying") Ha!

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
