Today's Daily Devotional


You alone are the Lord. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship You. Nehemiah 9:6

06/23/09 It is all about worship. We are here to worship the Lord. Our purpose is to worship Him. How do you do that? Are you a hand-raiser? Are you a singer? Are you a prayer? Do you play music for Him? Do you write songs, stories or poetry? Do you feed the homeless? Work as a missionary? Make wholesome movies? Do you clean bathrooms? Take out the trash? Give rides to people who need them? Have you given your favorite jacket to someone who was cold? Remember that you should do everything you do for God’s glory whether it’s cleaning up after someone else or leading your church’s choir. Worship is an attitude of focus on the Lord. When you’re done reading this, done run right off and start doing something else. Spend some time with God telling Him how wonderful He is.

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God.
