Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division – a truth about God, a truth about man, a truth about God’s relationship to man; a sin to avoid, promise to trust, example to follow, command to obey, truth to believe):

1.The Prophecy of Habakkuk (Hab 1-2)

Principle:  Our sovereign Lord does the unexpected to accomplish His will.

2.The Prayer of Habakkuk (Hab 3)

Principle:  Prayer isn’t just making requests; it reminds us Who God is.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

Habakkuk received the Lord’s prophecy and spoke a rejoicing prayer.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Learn, Understand, etc.):

TCMATK The Lord can be trusted even when we don’t understand Him or agree with Him.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.What unconventional people or situations is God using to draw you to Himself?  (To what unexpected people and places is God sending you to accomplish His will?)

2.What do you want to remember (or cling to) about God that you could incorporate in your prayers?

The Big Idea (author’s main purpose in writing; the one thing all the other things in the passage is about; if you couldn’t talk about it, you would still understand the passage is trying to convey this):

Sovereignty, Trustworthiness

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
