Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division – a truth about God, a truth about man, a truth about God’s relationship to man; a sin to avoid, promise to trust, example to follow, command to obey, truth to believe):

1.Isaiah declares: the Lord called Israel to display good news of His reign and salvation through His Servant’s offering for sin (Isaiah 49-53)

Principle:  God’s message of good news for all people is His Suffering Servant, Jesus.

2.Isaiah declares: “sing barren woman,” “Seek the Lord while He may be found,” and , “there is no peace for the wicked.” (Isaiah 54-57)

Principle:  God’s message of good news will receive different responses from different people.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

God called Israel to display His good news of salvation.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Learn, Understand, etc.):

TCMATK The Lord’s good news of salvation through Jesus Christ requires a response from every person.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.How have you responded to God’s good news of salvation through Jesus Christ?

2.What objections do you have that are keeping you from accepting God’s free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ?  If you’ve accepted Christ as your Savior, what objections have you heard from others that keep them from accepting God’s good news, and how did you respond?

The Big Idea (author’s main purpose in writing; the one thing all the other things in the passage is about; if you couldn’t talk about it, you would still understand the passage is trying to convey this):

Salvation

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...
