First, I would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to Amanda Cabot and her publisher for sending me a copy of "On Lone Star Trail" to review for them. I am truly grateful for this generosity. I really appreciate the time, effort and expense it takes to make a reviewer copy available to me.
It took a bit of time for me to really engage the characters and the story in Amanda Cabot’s latest novel “On Lone Star Trail”. I really enjoyed the previous books in the Firefly Lake series and this novel began in such a way that I thought it would be a really quick read, but the story dragged a bit after the initial “excitement”.
Gillian was a gifted pianist before an accident with a motorcycle crushed her hand and destroyed her career. TJ has sold everything but his bike and is traveling the country, completing his deceased wife’s bucket list. When the two meet, they are forced to confront their pasts, their futures and how to use the gifts they’ve been given by God for His glory.
Despite the sputtering beginning, “On Lone Star Trail” is a truly enjoyable book. I laughed, I cried, I was entertained. And I was touched because of the reminder that Christ uses broken people and we are all broken in one way or another.
