Chapters 15 and 16 describe the seven bowls of wrath. Ooh.
This is chilling. Sometimes it’s
actually difficult to believe that the scenes described are going to play out
before our eyes. It’s mind-blowing that
there will be such defiance and rebellion against God! But if you take a good look around you,
you’ll see that rebellion and defiance even today. The wicked Nimrod is a “type” of
“antichrist”. It’s nice to know the
signs to look for and it’s good to have Scripture as a life manual.
I am thankful that Dr. Missler reminds us often to
concentrate more on the person of Christ when we study the “pseudo Christ”. I’m reminded that a similar concept was my
“take away” from the “Experiencing God” study by Henry Blackaby: the counterfeit division of the Canadian
Mounties thoroughly studies authentic currency so that they will not be fooled
when a fake crosses their path. They
know the truth so well that the fake doesn’t fool them. I want to know my Lord that well!
Homework for next time:
Read chapters 17 & 18. Read
Isaiah 13 & 14, Jeremiah 50 & 51.
