Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division – a truth about God, a truth about man, a truth about God’s relationship to man; a sin to avoid, promise to trust, example to follow, command to obey, truth to believe):

1.The Lord takes Elijah and Elijah’s spirit rests on Elijah (2 Kings 2)

Principle:  Godly alliances lead to the display of God’s power and glory.

2.The kings of Israel, Judah and Edom fight the king of Moab (2 Kings 3)

Principle:  Ungodly alliances cannot prevent the display of God’s power and glory.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):

Elijah is taken from Elisha; Israel, Judah, Edom fight Moab.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Learn, Understand, etc.):

TCMATK The believer’s relationship with God is the most important relationship we have, but godly friendships enhance the believer’s life and walk with Christ.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):

1.How are you responding to the godly relationships God is calling you to?

2.What less than godly alliances are you tempted to maintain or enter into right now and why?  How has God warned you against developing relationships with ungodly people?

The Big Idea (author’s main purpose in writing; the one thing all the other things in the passage is about; if you couldn’t talk about it, you would still understand the passage is trying to convey this):

Relationship

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a while, now.   And I would like to share wit
