Divisions (run-on sentence OK, direct verbiage from Scripture/Principles are Aims for each Division):
1.The Lord speaks to David through Nathan the prophet. (7:1-17)
Principle:  The Lord speaks to His people through other people.
2.David speaks to the Lord in prayer. (7:18-29)
Principle:  When the Lord speaks, His people must respond.

Subject Sentence (10-word sentence with proper structure showing exactly where you are in Scripture):
God’s message through Nathan about His house makes David pray.

Aim (“To Cause My Audience To…” Know, See, Desire etc.):
TCMATK God uses others to speak His truth into our lives (and us to speak truth into the lives of others) and we grow in Christlikeness when we are transformed by those truths.

Application (not yes or no question.  Meant to bring about heart change):
1.When has the Lord spoken to you through others and how did your application of those messages make you look more like Christ?
When have you resisted a message from the Lord that was spoken through someone else and what was the final result?
When has the Lord used you to speak truth into someone else’s life and what were the results?
2.How has your prayer life been transformed as a result of a “word from the Lord” you received from someone else?

Homiletics Training: Content

Homiletics .   By definition, “homiletic” is the art of preaching or writing sermons.   I think we would all agree that our pastors study the Bible thoroughly to deliver sermons every Sunday to their congregations.   The beautiful news is that every child of God can use this discipline to study the Bible for themselves. As a member of Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) Leadership, part of my required preparation each week is to prepare homiletics for the passage we are studying.   BSF offers an engaging seminar on how to use this method to study the Scriptures.   I’ve taken the seminar several times under two different leaders and I’ve learned something new every time I’ve attended.   I’ve also been doing the process of homiletics for over ten years and I can say that there is no better teacher than the Holy Spirit in this process!   So keep practicing.   Keep sharing and discussing.   I’ve been posting my homiletics on this blog for quite a...

Armor of God – Week One – Sizing Up The Enemy

Welcome to Boot Camp!   For the next seven weeks we will be training with our weapons (God’s Word and prayer) in preparation for the battle of our lives and the lives of others!   And we will be learning how to equip ourselves with the Armor of God. Priscilla Shirer’s Armor of God Bible study is a MUST-DO for EVERY BIBLE STUDENT!   I don’t mean to shout, but I can’t emphasize this enough!!!   We are at war boys and girls.   And our enemy wants to keep us in the dark about that fact.   If he can convince us that he does not exist or that our God is not good or that we are not loved and treasured by the King and Creator of the Universe, he wins the battle.   But can I share something with you?   OUR ENEMY HAS ALREADY LOST THE WAR!!!!!   His time is short and he is grasping at anything we leave dangling in an attempt to drag us down.   So let’s not leave too much dangling. My church begins the Armor of God study tonight (9/9/15). ...
