Bible Study: Coming Out Of Bondage - Exodus - Chapter 8

Please forgive this rough draft format, as these are my raw study notes on the book of Exodus. I felt a great sense of urgency to publish them rather than waiting until I had the time to pretty them up. Thank you and I pray that God blesses you through this material.

Take a few minutes to savor Exodus Chapter 8. Then return here and ponder the thoughts, answer the questions, and be sure to leave comments about your own revelations…

8:3-15 – plague #2 – plague of frogs in the Nile. God defeats Heget, the frog goddess. (Kuk)

8:7 – Why would the magicians create more frogs?

8:10 – why would Pharaoh wait until tomorrow to have Moses pray to remove the frogs?

8:16-9:12 – The Lord’s defeat of Egypt’s land gods.

8:16-19 – plague #3 – plague of gnats from dust. God defeats insect gods and earth gods. Geb, the earth god.

8:20-32 – plague #4 – plague of flies. God defeats insect gods. Khepry, the beetle god.

8:22 – God singles out Israel so they are not touched by this plague.

8:26 – the sacrifices of the Israelites would have been detestable to the Egyptians because they would be sacrificing animals that the Egyptians worshiped!

What attributes of God have you observed in your study today? How will this change your relationship with Him?
